Spillway

How Spillways Work

During inspections, regulators check spillway capacity, structural condition, and whether the outlet causes erosion or flooding. They’ll also verify that spillway elevations match approved plans. Any deviations can trigger enforcement actions.

Schedule stormwater management inspection if you notice standing water that doesn’t drain properly, erosion around the spillway, or visible damage to concrete structures. Don’t wait for your annual inspection if you see obvious problems.
After major storms, walk your spillways to check for new damage or debris accumulation. If your spillway couldn’t handle recent rainfall and caused flooding, you need immediate attention to prevent bigger problems.
